Supreme Court affirms Hanga as Senator-Elect

The Supreme Court has affirmed Rufa’i Hanga of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP as senator-elect for Kano Central Senatorial District.
The Court also removed former Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim shekarau as the candidate of the NNPP in the February 25 National Assembly Election.
INEC had earlier challenged the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal’s judgment which upheld Rufai Hanga as the Senatorial Candidate of the NNPP for Kano Central following the withdrawal of Ibrahim Shekarau as a member of the party and Senatorial Candidate.
Delivering Judgment, Justice Emmanuel Agim dismissed INEC’s appeal as he held that it lacked merit and substance.
The Court therefore directed INEC to issue Certificate of Return to NNPP’s Rufai Hanga as elected senator of Kano Central
