Reps mandate police to secure release of kidnap victims
The House of Representatives has called on the Federal Government to curb incessant kidnappings across the country.
This was sequel to a motion of urgent public importance on the need to curb the menace by a member from Akwa-Ibom state, Idem Unyime at plenary.
Mr Unyime recounted that a member of his constituency, Enobong Williamson was recently kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination, and that all efforts to locate him has so far proved abortive.
He expressed concern and sadness over the “reoccurring incidences” of abduction, disappearances and kidnappings going on across the Country.
Adopting the motion, the House mandated the Inspector-General of Police and other security agencies to secure the release of the victim and others held captive by kidnappers as well as devise means to curb the menace in the rest of the country.
