Police declare APGA candidate wanted in Ebonyi
Police in Ebonyi State have declared the Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Professor Bernard Odo wanted for alleged murder.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Mrs Onome Onovwakpoyeya explained that Professor Odo and nine others were wanted in connection with the murder of the Traditional Ruler of Umuezekoha Community in Ezza North Local Government Area of the state, His Majesty, Eze Igboke Ewa.
The statement urged the people of the state and the general public to help the police apprehend the fleeing suspects if seen or volunteer information that will lead to the arrest.
The slain Traditional Ruler, Eze Igboke Ewa was attacked by unknown gunmen with AK 47 on the 27th of last month in his palace in Umuezekoha community.
Reports indicate that he was relaxing with his wife in his balcony when the attackers scaled his fence and shot him dead.
One of the sons who spoke to Radio Nigeria, Mr Emeka Igboke appealed to the Government to fish out the killers of his father.
Meanwhile, the APGA Gubernatorial Candidate in Ebonyi State, Professor Bernard Odo has described the statement by Ebonyi State Police Command declaring him wanted in connection with the murder of Eze Igboke Ewa of Umuezekoha as subjudice.
A statement by the candidate described the publication of his name by Police as malicious and false and urged the public to discountenance it.
He emphasised that the persons listed alongside him were APGA supporters from his community noting that he had no other relationship or dealings with them except being someone they look up to as role model.
Professor Odo said he had obtained an order from an Owerri High Court restraining security agencies from harassing or arresting him until the matter brought before the court is determined.
According to him, the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies have been served with court order while he is not on the run.
