The University of Pittsburgh’s Women have announced the signing of Nigeria’s U-20 and Super Falcons midfielder, Deborah Abiodun, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The team made the announcement on their official Twitter handle saying, “We got a good one! We’re thrilled to welcome Deborah Ajibola Abiodun to our program!”
The 19-year-old was part of the Nigerian female U-20 that fought valiantly at the U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
The Falconets lost in the quarter-final against the Netherlands failing to get a medal at the tournament but showed flashes of what can be if nurtured and developed as they were one of the brightest teams at the tournament.
Abiodun was one of the players that stood out in the squad showing sparks of brilliance and was crucial to their charge. Her confidence on the ball was excellent and she has a lot of natural energy and maturity beyond her years.
