
Okowa signs N71b Supplementary budget
Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has signed the State 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Bill of N71b, approved by the House of Assembly, barely a week to the end of his second term administration.
The budget comprises N65.5b capital expenditure and N5.5b as recurrent expenditure.
Briefing journalists at Government House, Asaba, Governor Okowa commended the House of Assembly for its support and cooperation with the Executive in the past eight years.
The Delta State Governor who also signed into law eight other bills said his administration had laid the solid foundation for more rapid development of the state.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly and Governor-elect, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, explained that the Bills went through all legislative processes before they were passed.
The eight other Bills signed by Governor Okowa were; the Delta State Development and Property Authority Bill, 2022; Delta State Good Governance and Accountability Bill, 2022 and Delta State Sickle Cell Disorder Control Bill, 2023.
Others are High Court (Amendment) Bill, 2023; Delta State Thanksgiving Day Bill, 2023; Delta State Creative Industry Development Bill, 2023; Delta State Polytechnic Burutu Bill, 2023 and College of Health Science and Technology Bill, 2023.
