
Nigeria to launch replacement satellite into orbit

Nigeria is to launch into orbit a replacement satellite for the Nigeria Communication Satellite1R.
The Board Chairman of the Nigeria Communication Satellite Company, Mr Yusuf Kazaure stated this while addressing participants at a one-day retreat for management staff of the company with the theme "Redefining NIGCOMSAT for exponential growth".
He said satellite technology is highly dynamic therefore the present satellite 1R in orbit would be replaced within the next two years with the hope of utilizing it for television and digital services.
Also, the Managing Director of the Company, Mallam Tukur Lawal Funtua said the company was working assiduously to provide effective services to Nigerians to boost the revenue drive for the Federal Government.
He said the company was in partnership with several public and private organisations to boost several related sectors such as digital, security, media and environmental services.
