
IPAC reconstitute committee dispute resolution
IPAC Chairman and some Chairmen of different registered political parties in the country.
The Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC is reconstituted the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (ADRC) in line with the provisions of the IPAC Code of Conduct.
IPAC Chairman, Alhaji Yagbagi Sani who stated this in Abuja while briefing newsmen after the General Assembly meeting of the council explained that, the committee would not only enhance the stability of the polity, but checkmate the negative attitude of some politicians, who are destabilizing the polity for their selfish interest.
Alhaji Sani also said the action would also enable the political class to employ necessary in-house mechanisms to solve issues of disagreements.
He said the Council was also planning to carry out a post mortem of the 2023 General elections after the 29th of this month when the process would have reached its logical conclusion.
“It is our belief that the recommendations of the meeting and other similar future engagements will go a long way in shaping future legislations and policies that will promote credible, free, fair, peaceful and inclusive elections in the Country “.
Alhaji Sani said other programmes being put in place to ensure that members were well informed and equipped for the task ahead included capacity building for party leaders in collaboration with National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, IPAC Peer Review Mechanism to assess performance of State Governors in the States and National Assembly legislatures effectiveness in law making towards attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) .
He explained that the council would establish a Zonal Peer Assessment Team of experts that would work in collaboration with a six-member Committee consisting of a chairman, two Co-Chairman, Secretary, Deputy Secretary and a member.
He noted that the team would put in place a mechanism that would ensure that the political leaderships at all levels of government achieve the SDGs in their constituencies.
Alhaji Sani also called on all stakeholders to support the IPAC leadership to achieve the laudable program aimed at deepening the democracy in the country.
