IPAC cautions INEC ahead of march 18 polls
The Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to ensure optimal working of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BVAS during the re scheduled Governorship and State Assembly elections on the 18th of this month.
IPAC chairman Alhaji Yagbaji Sani stated this in Abuja while briefing newsmen and urged INEC to ensure the upload of the polling unit results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal, IREV in good time.
Alhaji Sani said that Nigerians and the International Community expected free fair and transparent election.
“Nigerians will not tolerate any excuse for poor performance as witnessed in the failure to upload results from polling units to INEC IREV in real time which led to the ongoing litigation in Court by aggrieved Political Parties and their candidates as well as the postponement of the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections. “
Alhaji Sani urged all stakeholders in the electoral process, to bear with the commission as it prepares for the March 18,2023 Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
He urged the security agencies to live up to their responsibilities of securing lives and properties before, during and after elections
“The ballot is sacrosanct, the will and mandate of the people given to a political party must be respected. Any attempt to manipulate the upcoming elections must be resisted. The era of vote buying and other irregularities that marred previous polls is over. “
