The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been urged to investigate the outgoing ministers over the non-implementation of projects that funds were released for.
An All Progressives Congress Chieftain and Convener of Northern Conscience for 2023, Dr Garus Gololo made the call during a news briefing in Abuja.
Dr Gololo said the outgoing ministers must give account of their stewardship to the nation during their tenure in office.
He urged the EFCC to stop moving from hotels to hotels arresting and parading yahoo boys but rather go after government officials who have stolen from the nation’s Coffers.
He noted that monies have been released to ministers for projects but yet these projects are not executed.
According to Dr. Gololo, the EFCC only focused on state governors for corrupt practices while the ministers who embezzled public funds are not investigated.
“Every day governors are being placed on watch lists and the ministers work freely. Why has the EFCC not placed ministers too on watch lists? ” he asked.
The APC Chieftain urged the incoming administration not to appoint anyone that has worked with President Muhammadu Buhari, saying they have nothing to add to meaningful development of the nation.
“I am advising the new government not to engage appointees of the outgoing administration again because it’s like fertile eggs, which cannot hatch any chicken. I see some minister after serving one government will want to be Ambassadors, is it a heritage? When one finishes serving a government he or she should step aside and allow others to take over,” Dr. Gololo stated.
Dr. Gololo also frowned at the request for more loan by outgoing government and urged the senate to decline such request.
He said the present administration has just four days to vacate office and should not leave the country indebted.
