
CBN, Google creates virtual currency museum

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is creating a Virtual Currency Museum Gallery in partnership with Google.
Members of the public will be able to access the currency museums from their homes without having to physically travel to the museum which is located at the banks headquarters in Abuja.
CBN Deputy Governor, Operations, Folashodun Shonubi made the announcement at the International Museums Day (IMD) celebration in Abuja.
“The Central Bank of Nigeria Currency Museum is working in collaboration with Google and our in-house Information Technology Department (|TD) to establish a Virtual Reality Museum”, the director explained.
Director, Currency Operations of the CBN, Ahmed Umar said that the museums’ vast collections offers an almost infinite opportunities to share with visitors.
This years International Museum Day aimed to create awareness on the importance of museums as means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among people.
The theme for the 2023 International Museum Day is “Museums, Sustainability and Well-being”.
