
2nd Niger Bridge, legacy project
The 1.6 kilometer 2nd Niger Bridge that connects Asaba in Delta State and Onitsha in Anambra States has been inaugurated for use by President Muhammadu Buhari virtually.
Benefitting communities in South South and South East commended the administration of Buhari for the completion of the bridge after nine years when the ground breaking ceremony was performed.
The communities in Asaba and Onitsha rolled out their drums to appreciate President Buhari and the naming of the 2nd Niger Bridge after him.
The project is 1.6 km (0.99 mi) long and the ground breaking ceremony was performed by former President Good luck Jonathan in March 2014.
The Representatives of the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe and the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Chike Edozien described the completion of the bridge as a big relief to the people of the South South, and South East, and a dream come true.
Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige said the delivery of the bridge by President Buhari was a fulfillment of promise made, and expressed gratitude to the President for it.
